I think you came to that conclusion based solely on the sign pictured in
the article. I dug in to see if what you said is true.
In fact, the unregistered, tax-evading, Republican, religious PAC did
indeed endorse Republican candidates - both on the local and the
national level. They admit it freely.
The legal problem here is really simple - they misinterpreted the law.
As extremists, they don't comprehend the limited nature of right to free
speech.
It's simple really - when they chose to make some extra cash by
politicizing their church, they stopped being a church.
