One of the paint brushes that the Republicans like to use to paint the
democrats as evil is the Tax tag. They say democrats will tax you into
the
poor house.

The above is an article in Bloomberg.com about how House Ways and Means
Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (a Democrat) wants to raise several
taxes.
My comment is that it's needed and warranted.
Quoting from the article:
" The proposal also imposes $9.4 billion in Social Security and Medicare
taxes on lawyers, accountants and others who currently avoid them by
organizing as a partner****p. It would also raise $4.3 billion in taxes
from
investors by requiring stock purchase prices to be re****ted to the
Internal
Revenue Service beginning in 2009 and all other types of securities
beginning in 2011."
Here they want to tax people that currently pay NO Tax based on finding
loopholes to avoid any taxes. That means that the everyday person, you
and
I, have to foot the bill for the taxes that they avoid. Republicans and
Democrats should be for plugging loopholes that exist and there are plenty
but then each takes care of their own kind, i.e. Doctors, lawyers,
accountants etc. Very few common people hold elected positions anymore
and
a lot of the people in there are in there due to pac money and others that
are looking for something in return for their contributions and usually
that
something in return is votes to keep their tax shelters or for some
government grant or job. The last one to get looked after is the common
voter.
I say there are needs for some more taxes and time to have some people
start
paying taxes in that haven't been and that too often such a wide brush is
used to paint democrats as tax and spend politicians just to demonize them
or hide their own inadequacies.
