Sometimes we have more visitors that never contribute but enjoy watching.
For everyone, new, old, active, inactive, never posted or always post .. A
question for you that doesn't deal with politics or religion. Just my
curiosity you might say and I've tried to research some but have hit a
wall.
I just watched Pale Rider, on TV, and wondered. In an old West Town
around
the 1850's what stores or businesses would you expect to find there? Here
are some that I thought of .. Anyone else have any ideas?
Saloon, General Store, Drug Store, Doctor's Office, Dry Cleaners,
Blacksmith shop and Stables. Given the town there might also have been a
jail, telegraph office and Railroad Station and I would think maybe a
Hotel
and possibly a Church. Those are my guesses anyone else?
I'm sure that it was mostly just the essential stores for goods and I've
only saw one picture of the old Dodge City, Kansas town and they actually
had a Liquor & Cigar Store called "G.M. Hoover" and I wouldn't have
thought
about that one. The other stores in the photo was the ones I mentioned
above, with the exception of Doctor's Office but there again I guessed
about
that one.
It's sad how much history we let die over time.
