I wouldn't for anything try and analyze the 1920's and 1930's boundary
years
other than to know that they profoundly affected all who survived through
them. I know my father never would have anything to do with he stock
market
all his life due to what happened during that period and I know that his
father had a car rot, setting in their garage, due to not being able to
drive it. I know it was profoundly hard times and many who jumped from
Wall
street windows most likely did so out of losing everything or possibly
because they had a conscience and were the cause of many losing
everything.
Today's time (1990's - 2000's) Greed is so entrenched in to the psyche of
most people and a moral less society that either ignores or totally
rejects
God dictates the way business is done and relationships among people that
I
fear greatly what would happen, today, if such a disastrous economic
downfall were to hit again. There is very little love for the fellow
brother or fellow citizen that it's not share and share alike but it's "If
you are weaker than I am I'm going to take yours and you can get yours
anyway you can".
I know it's far more complicated than I have stated it but the essence of
my
post was simply to say I don't think we have the character of people to
make
it through such a disastrous time. Additionally with experiences of Wars
such as Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq I fear would our country have the
fortitude and where with all to support and fight a major conflict like
World War I or II again? Would we defend freedom at ANY cost or
capitulate
to cut losses or when things started getting painful. People today are a
lot different than people then, technology is a lot different and the
media
is a lot different. The thing is we have no choice but to experience it
and
live with and through it I just wonder if we will be as wise and diligent?
