Having just converted over to DSL from Cable Internet with both advertising
3MB speed connections I have switched back and forth from connection to
connection and although it does seem that there isn't much difference I
can,
on average, achieve faster loading of pages on DSL over Charter Internet.
I
realize that many factors affect each and the performance of each such as
distance from the Phone Company equipment and number of cable subscribers
sharing the connection at any one time but this is based on what I've
found
so far. Additionally from my dealings with AT&T vs. Charter it seems that
AT&T is quicker to respond and seems more hungry to help at this point
than
does the help at Charter. Lately I've also noticed that the trend with
Charter cable customer service is to farm out the jobs to India. No less
than three calls to Charter has yielded a very poorly English speaking
person from India. My last call, from Charter, was from a noticeably
foreign person with, again, very poor English skills who only called to
verify what Charter services I had. Less than five minutes later I got a
call from a computer asking me to rate my experience with Charter's last
call. On a scale of 1, bad, to 5, excellent, I gave them a solid 1 (one).
The computer hung up on me then.
I'm no big fan of AT&T, from past experiences, but I'll give them a second
chance for sadly Charter wasn't much better and that was my only two
choices.
