Big Brother or Big Bother?

by Gary <kw4z@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 5, 2008 at 11:55 PM

I've been reading articles around the world, and in part our country,
including California if you consider that part of the country, about
Global
Warming and other, what I call, chicken little topics. While I think
there
are various dangers to global warming and global cooling as well as many
other events that happen to be occurring from time to time I feel
governmental cures are not the answer and could impose far more grievous
effects upon all of us. From California's politicians, or some of them,
wanting to install controlling thermostats and water meters in homes
whereby
they can control the heat and cooling functions of a home and the water
intake based upon their perceived threats at any appointed time. For
instance limiting a home, in winter, to say 68 degrees as an upper limit
for
the heat and say 76 degrees maybe in summer. I'm guessing here and those
numbers are purely my imagination but I have heard comments similar.
Additionally talk of imposing limiting water input to homes and banning
single flush toilets, this one from Europe, whereby saving water use by
limiting the monthly amount of water that a home could use and cutting
them
off all together at times remotely when deemed necessary by the local
government. Many things I have read under the guise of saving the globe
make old stories of living under communism sound like a walk in the park.
I'm not saying by any means we are there yet or anywhere close but I fear
given time, and we all know that we, U.S. That is, are the culprits of the
world therefore we will be expected to bite the bullet and do more than
our
perceived fair part.

In respect of the proposal to ban single flush toilets I'm exercising the
flapper twice or more for each visit now.
