Gore, smarter than we gave him credit for AND Dangers unrecognized

by Gary <kw4z@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 6, 2008 at 12:41 AM

Fair warning, as most of my post this one is long and opinionated.

I heard the other day about how Al Gore is heavily invested, if not owner,
in a company selling or providing "Carbon Credits" which many industries
buy
now to offset the Carbon emissions that they feel, or are lead to believe,
they are responsible for in order to be "good global citizens". Al Gore,
himself, I hear buys many carbon credits from his company, to offset the
jet
trips he takes. Pretty smart to go around sounding the alarm about
global
warming and setting up a atmosphere where by a company can feel justified
in
their carbon emissions by purchasing an equivalent amount of carbon
credits
somehow making things right in the eyes of the activist who can then go
and
protest other companies for damaging the environment.

I do believe there is global warming AND I believe there is global cooling
at any one time in respect to any other time in our worlds existence. I
don't think man or the U.S. In any way contributes any great partial
percent
of that warming or cooling as far as global effects are concerned.

Al Gore though I must admit is smart though setting up a company whereby
he
will profit from people buying into the sermon he is preaching. Paying
money, which in part finds it's way into his pockets, for theoretically
helping to fight another theoretical menace neither of which has proved to
help or hurt based upon man's intervention depending upon who you ask.

One danger that I do feel that we face that is man made (made by decisions
over the last 40 years) is that regarding our nations food supplies and
general independence and self sufficiency as a nation. Whether it's
running farmers out of business or allowing so many to be run out or to be
controlled and not helping to maintain a reservoir of future farmers or
whether it's allowing industries such as the steel or electronics
industry,
and many more, to become all but extinct within our own borders down to
that
precious commodity called oil whereby we are so reliant upon so many that
desire our countries and government's downfall.

IF we are to FEAR anything made by man or man's decisions or hands let it
start there with the real and tangible before we worry about the
theoretical. Fear the lessening of respect for the dignity of human life
or
morality within our country where today we have many that are fearful of
saying the pledge of allegiance, if they even know it anymore due to the
phrase "under God". The replacing of concern for your fellow man with get
all you can while you can in an atmosphere of Greed and unbridled
financial
lust. Republicans are big on wanting to keep government out of people's
lives and I can understand that but also to keep them out of industry and
corporate America and having less control which is good in principal and
theory IF we lived in a utopia and moral perfect world where Greed was not
king and rewarded. Just like it would be great if unions weren't needed
either, for many of the same reasons, but due to a few, in power and
positions of control that are corrupt, they effect far more therefore some
measure of control is necessary to protect the interest of persons who are
not in a position to be able to protect themselves. Unions are necessary
or
were to protect peoples safety, lives and ability to make a decent living
where governmental controls did much the same thing and should in areas
that
the end product is essential to life and our own economy. I do believe in
Free trade but we don't live in a world where all things are equal and
other
countries give their own people advantages. Advantages that CEO's and
companies in the US use to make larger profits while reducing the number
of
jobs here and in many cases elimination of basic industries that I feel
are
essential or were essential to enabling our country to wage and win world
wars and provide for the people, jobs and a good living. Also that
provided
for, equipped and maintained an infrastructure of highways, bridges
binding
us together as states. I believe many Unions lost their direction and
focus
and became an enemy of the worker but I also believe there are many CEO's
and boards of companies that would allow the United States to become weak
and threatened or be placed in danger just to increase their stock and net
worth and bottom line. I do believe there is a place for governmental
oversight and control, over some industries, because I don't trust the
ethics anymore of people. Companies that have gotten so large or
essential
that they effect our nations security and economy. The Enrons, Power,
Food
and Oil Companies that sell a product that we don't find a luxury to have
but essential to life itself and maintaining a family. Fuel and Food for
instance two of which are more and more controlled by people outside our
own
country and with ties external to our own people.

As I said I do believe that there is global warming and global cooling
depending on where your feet are positioned on our globe but I fear that
there are many things just as dangerous to our way of life and our own
country which we seemingly allow to go by unnoticed or unspoken due to the
fact that we so over-politicize it and become so polarized debating far
more
meaningless things while ignoring that which lies just below the surface.
I feel that the GREED and decisions of CEO's and large , blue chip,
corporations that helped build our country also put our country at
financial
risk and danger. I can't really even say OUR country any more can I for
a
great or much greater part of it is foreign owned than ever before and
many
times owned by people that are actually, in large part, opposed to our way
of life and our system of government. If Chicken Little is clucking let
her
cluck a few more choruses.
