Yeah I'm kicking myself for my own stupidity. I called AT&T tech support
for Email issues. I was having an issue with email in that my desktop no
longer would send or receive email. I was connecting to web pages fine
and
no settings were changed on my accounts so I was scratching my head. I am
connected to my new Bellsouth/AT&T Wireless router through the wireless
connection, just like I do with my laptop and after a reboot or two or
three
after clearing out caches I ended up calling Tech Support.
Got a friendly fellow who talked me through a bunch of steps and
verification of my account settings. I kept asking about rebooting the
router because the only difference I could tell from when I knew it was
working days ago was that the wireless led wasn't blinking when I was
streaming content or attempting to send and receive email. The India
connection was at a loss and recommended I call back and try a router guy
or
person to assist. I then got my laptop and made connection and sent and
received test emails so I knew that was working then that light went off.
Sure enough, and it can happen to anyone which is why I'm posting this.
My
desktop had somehow changed wireless connections and connected to a
neighbor's internet connection that was unprotected or unsecured. That
connection was through cable so therefore my AT&T mail server wouldn't
work
through it but I could receive the WebPages.
After kicking myself I called AT&T back hoping to get the same person but
no
such luck but the tech I did get made sure to make a notation of it for
passing it around to other technicians so that they could, in the future,
advise folks to check where they had their wireless connections.
