I think two things stung the folks at Microsoft with this release, founded
or not. First they were accused of literally camping out at Apple's press
release about Tiger and Leopard and copying many of the features and
offerings in those OS's. Second they produced a product that most felt
the
predecessor product was superior to and yet after delay and delay they
still
pushed it out on the market and even till today have bugs to work out. I
might be wrong, many times am, but I think they were caught between trying
to bring out some really great features and offerings and maintaining
backward compatibility and they failed in both endeavors.
