After last seasons College football season and this years Presidential
elections along with Gas prices and everything else it seems that the
improbable is quite possible and quickly becoming the norm.
It is interesting that Both political parties are seemingly going to have
nominees that a large majority of their own party members don't want.
Many
Republicans are still wondering how they got McCain as their nominee while
on the Democratic side many "yellow dog" Democrats are looking at the
current slate of candidates they have a choice of and are again looking
for
that yellow dog as a more satisfying substitute.
Regarding Obama, I can't say that anyone knows much about him at all in
fact
from my observations of people interviewed on the news and from
overhearing
street talk the majority of his supporters could care less what he
believes
or how he votes. The don't even care if he is patriotic but rather that
we
actually can elect a President of Color for a chance. I personally think
it's highly dangerous when so many will blindly vote for a man for the
most
powerful office in the nation and possibly the world based upon color
alone.
One wonders if another Cuban Missile Crisis, well not Cuban but involving
some other rouge nation, were to confront our president then what would be
the outcome? Forget external enemies we have enough on the inside that
threatens our country and way of life what with $8.00 gasoline possibly on
the horizon. At what point to we open our own reserves and allow drilling
again?
The sad fact, or I believe it a fact, is that if we did open our drilling
and could overnight be 100% self sufficient in oil then because of GREED
the
oil companies would charge us the same $200 a barrel claiming that it took
that much more to get our own oil out of the ground and enjoy the even
greater profits. Now they have a taste of blood and know the public will
pay it there is no way they would ever go back no matter how economical it
would be to get our own oil.
