It's at the end of my lips

by "bukvich@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <bukvich@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 12, 2008 at 02:28 PM

Today I read the wikipedia memory page and then linked to the tip of
the tongue phenomenon page. Yes! Wikipedia has a page devoted to the
tip of the tongue phenomenon. The most interesting part was they claim
that there is a similar phrase in virtually every language. Usually
involving tongue, but always involving some body part nearby. Lips,
throat, what have you. In Danish it translates to the end of my lips.

According to Noam Chomsky I suffer under the lash of cor****ate
tyranny, but apparently he has never been inside the security
perimeter of one of these cor****ate tyrannies, because, believe me, it
ain't that bad. On one of his AK press compact disks he claims things
are almost like Europe during the Black Death in the 14th century in
terms of human misery.

I have redecorated my refrigerator door. In addition to my 3X5 card
with:

I am loved
I belong
People are good

(Yeah I know these are not true, but the opposite is not true either
and I lived under *those* assumptions for years and years so I am
trying to innoculate myself against them by daily exposure to their
opposite.)

So for motivational purposes I put up my income history from my Social
Security Administration form. My doubling period is very close to ten
years, so far. It seems to me impossible that I will make twice as
much in 2017 as in 2007, but if you had asked me in 1997 if I would
make twice as much in 2007, I would also have said impossible. On the
other hand at some point if nothing else death puts an end to it so it
cannot continue indefinitely. Nevertheless, the idea that I can do it
again helps get me steamrolling at 6:00 A.M. when any contrived
motivation helps. I have it on graph paper, with the doubling line in
red. I am above the doubling line. But I am not as far above the
doubling line as I was in 2000. For some bizarre reason (I assure you
it had very little to do with my job performance) I got three freaking
bonuses in 2000.

If I can do one more doubling surely I will retire and put an end to
this millenniums long debate on whether or not man's will is free. In
the meantime I shall have to be more modest in my ambition and solve
problems like: were Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno the same person?

No. That takes 5 seconds. The validity of will, free or non-free takes
a little bit longer.

I redid my Sam Keen writing exercise where you construct the story of
your life. Mostly I shortened it. The last time it came out to 11
pages. It is now down to 5. It's strunk and whitified! I did add one
thing, however. I added another timeline in which every experience
which could be described as numinous (which also could be described as
probably just an unlikely coincidence) is marked on there. There are
19 such points. One weird thing is there is a tight cluster of 9
points starting in 2000. There has been only one such experience since
I moved to Houston. Since I made the numinosity lifeline, I have been
looking back at some of the books I was reading in 2000, and listening
to some of the music I was especially partial to then. It is what the
psychoanalysts refer to as an associative process. If I hook up again
with Darling Dearest this will be what psychoanalysts refer to as
total psychotic breakdown.

What is the word for that pleasure inside your brain sense when you
finally grasp onto that thing that was at the end of your lips? It's
more than a relief. There is some sort of entactogenic rush involved
in the thing. In German lexicographic practice this would not be a
problem. You just write
entactogenicrushfromresolvedtipofthetonguephenomenon. German works
great for the writers, not so much for the readers.
