On the front page of today's new york times there is more recession
kvetching. They quoted an expert as saying nobody would say we are not
now in a recession.
As far as I can tell we are not now in a recession.
So much for the experts. The last time I saw a quarterly GNP re****t it
said the economy was *growing* albeit very slowly. How much money do
they want the frigging fed to print, anyway? And this morning on my
local news radio they had a soundbite of some congressman saying we
have to save all these hardworking people who can't afford their
mortgage payments that the shark lenders twisted their arms into
signing up for. It's a pity the muhajiden hasn't gotten that guy yet.
Today for lunch I am eating tuna. During the depression my
grandparents couldn't afford tuna, and you know what? That might
happen again and if it does the new york times will have nothing left
to say because they will have used up all the superlative descriptions
of misery when we weren't even there yet. Idiots.
On the local front nothing is happening. During my first week of
having free time about the only thing I managed to do was recover. I
slept and I meditated a lot. Vitamin B-6 before bed for the dream
time. It works. Also I finished Hollenbeck's mysticism book. It's OK.
I still have to finish Tristan and Idylls King. I am feeling for non
romantic at the moment. I read this article on the web on Khalil
Gibran called "the prophet motive" which was quite funny. They say he
is the third best-selling poet of all time, 89000000 books in print or
some ridiculous number. According to the article he didn't actually
write them, but wrote rough drafts and jived his sugar mama (drawing a
blank on the name) to polish them up for him into publisher
submittable form. And he was a drunk who died from liver cirhosis. I
have no idea how much of the information is true, but the nietzsche
resentment tone of the whole thing cracked me up. One thing I could
not quite figure out was whether his main beef was with the writer or
the readers. Her main beef. The writer of the article is a Joan.
I wonder if she knows how Joan of Arc felt?
