I finished the TANTRIC *** manual. Some of the stuff in there is
excellent. Some is total crap. The whole idea about developing your
muscles so that you can get the giz to not come out and reroute it up
into the urinary bladder is even more ridiculous than the idea that
you should floss your nasal passages or digestive tract with long
strips of cloth.
They have a scene in "Crumb" where they interview his brother who is
over the edge in his yoga practices--he sits on beds of nails and
such--and he does the thing where you suck a fifty foot long strip of
fabric down your esophagus and your yogic guts pass it all the way
through and out the other end. They actually have the camera on his
face when he is stuffing it down his throat.

When they are rolling the film credits they mention the guy committed
suicide after filming and before production was done. They don't
mention how. I just looked on wikipedia. They also say Charles Crumb
committed suicide but they don't say how. I really don't care that
much that the guy killed himself, but if you are going to bring it up
I really would like to know how. Sheesh. What if he plugged his guts
up with that textile and nothing would go through and he needed
surgery to cut it out? It would be very informative to find out such a
thing, if you know what I mean. I guarantee you this: the yogi trick
where you slow down your breathing and heart rate and they put you in
a box and bury you underground for 24 hours is extremely hazardous and
you can kill yourself doing that. It makes for an interesting obituary
anyway. Like those people who put a noose around their throat and cut
down the blood supply to their brain (probably because they can't get
an erection without the bloodflow diversion) and die masturbating.
Weird Al should write a song about it pairing Paul Simon's "fifty ways
to leave your lover".
Before I can apply the good ideas in the manual I have a lot more
training to do. I have done 3000 skipropes without a miss. A couple
times. Most days I do not get very far past 2000. It doesn't seem that
long ago when I could do 3000 no misses every day no problem, but it
was a long long long time ago and it is going to take me several more
months of daily struggling if I even make it back to that point. It is
far from certain that my attention span is going to be able to keep on
the track but I am pretty sure tomorrow morning I will be trying
again.
There was a long article on the Kabbalah Center in the Sunday new york
times magazine. It was written by a person who claimed they were a
lapsed orthodox jew, which is a viewpoint I had not seen. She didn't
think it was too horrible, but she wonders what happens to the money
they collect as their financial practices are not open book. No
re****ts of the head rabbi (I can't remember if the guy actually got an
officially sanctioned rabbinical education, but they call him Rav)
owning a fleet of thirty rolls royces like Osho, but the organization
is rolling in the dough with buildings in thirty cities or something
like that. They have one in Houston and they have free introductory
sessions so I may go check them out. I definitely will not be getting
the red string bracelet.
