Love and ***uality in the Human Experience
FOR EVERY LAWFUL, GOD-GIVEN PRIVILEGE, SATAN HAS A COUNTERFEIT TO SUGGEST.
THE HOLY, PURE THOUGHT HE SEEKS TO REPLACE WITH THE IMPURE. FOR THE
SANCTITY
OF MARRIED LOVE HE WOULD SUBSTITUTE PERMISSIVENESS, UNFAITHFULNESS,
EXCESS,
AND PERVERSION; PREMARITAL ***, ADULTERY, ANIMALISM IN AND OUTSIDE OF
MARRIAGE, AND HOMO***UALITY. ALL ARE REFERRED TO IN THIS
CHAPTER.--COMPILERS.
Other ***ual Evils
15. Petting and Premarital ***
Infatuation Not Love. You have spent hours of the night in her company
because you were both infatuated. She professes love for you but she knows
not the pure love of an unpretending heart. Satan has ensnared your soul.
I
was shown you fascinated, deceived, and Satan exults that one who has
scarcely a trait of character that would make a happy wife and a happy
home
should have an influence to separate you from the mother who loves you
with
a changeless affection. In the name of the Lord, cease your attention to
Mattie F or marry her--do not scandalize the cause of God. . . .
Other ***ual Evils
The Results of Self-Abuse. Females possess less vital force than the other
***, and are deprived very much of the bracing, invigorating air by their
indoor life. The results of self-abuse in them is seen in various diseases
such as catarrh, dropsy, headache, loss of memory and sight, great
weakness
in the back and loins, affections of the spine, the head often decays
inwardly. Cancerous humor, which would lie dormant in the system their
lifetime, is inflamed and commences its eating, destructive work. The mind
is often utterly ruined, and insanity takes place.[*
Counsels to People with Moral Problems
Reproof for Familiarity With the Opposite ***. Brother O, you are watched
with critical eyes. Your attention to young ladies is not called for. You
are out of place in giving so much attention to the P family. Mrs. P has
done her work in ruining one good man. That matter was opened before me as
an open book. I was told in the night season that you were not qualified
to
be entrusted with large or even limited responsibilities unless you repent
and become a reformed man. God cannot be with you while you pursue this
course. My guide told me to follow, and I was shown your boyish
familiarity
with girls, and your particular sympathy toward Mrs. P and her daughters.
The mother keeps [to] the bed much of the time when she should be engaged
in
some useful employment in the care of her family.
Love for the Erring and Tempted
WRITING OF MASTURBATION IN THEIR ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
(MCGRAW-HILL BOOK COMPANY, 1965), LESTER C. AND ALICE CROW CONCLUDE: "THE
EFFECTS OF THIS FORM OF *** PERVERSION ARE NOT YET FULLY KNOWN."
Moral Maladies
Moral Effects.
949. And have you inquired, Where will all this end? as you have looked
upon
your children from a moral point of view? Have you not noticed the
increase
of disobedience in your children, and their manifestations of ingratitude
and impatience under restraint? Have you not been alarmed at their
disregard
of parental authority, which has bowed down the heart of their parents
with
grief, and
223
prematurely sprinkled their heads with gray hair? Have you not witnessed
the
lack of that noble frankness in your children which they once possessed,
and
which you admired in them? Some children even express in their
countenances
a hardened look of depravity. Have you not felt distressed and anxious as
you have seen the strong desire in your children to be with the other ***,
and their overpowering disposition to form attachments when quite young? .
.
.. Mothers, the great cause of these physical, mental, and moral evils is
secret vice, which inflames the passions, fevers the imagination, and
leads
to fornication and adultery. This vice is laying waste the constitution of
very many, and preparing them for diseases of almost every description.--
