That is socially speaking? We know it is historically, but socially in =
the present reality, I don't see it. At least not in New Haven and =
Fairfield counties. Up north and east maybe. I know one thing, I am =
sick and tired of the so-called local CT news acting like they serve the =
whole state when all they talk about is New England. They try to shut =
out all things NYC and tri-state. I have written to them quite a bit on =
this as I want them to change their ways and get down with the program.
The New England thing sucks. New England sucks. NE is poor also. If =
it were not for CT no one would think of NE as wealthy. We (in the 203) =
have no connection with Boston or MA. That is a Hartford obsession. We =
hate Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots(I like the uniforms and I =
respect their skills though). We are NY all the way. I put this in a =
NE group to express this to you people so that when you roll through CT =
on your way to the city (NYC, not corny Boston), you will know that we =
are down with the city and not Boston and NE.
Everytime I see a MA person (rare in the 203), I say "oh, you're from up =
in the New England area..." They must agree as they almost always say =
yes. Very few say "CT is New England too." When they do, I tell them =
where do you see it? What is NE? No Red Sox down here. One guy =
replied to me like that and I told him that this is (what it is) the NY =
area. He said, "oh, I forgot this is the NY part of New England.!" I =
said whatever, as long as you recognize.
When one thinks of New England, Boston comes to mind first, then MA, =
then RI and the other states. One does no typically think CT unless =
they are not from the east coast originally.
If anyone finds this divide interesting, I will be glad to post my =
letters to the so-called CT stations. It seems as if News12 is the only =
true CT news without the New England focus and it's proper NY,NJ and CT =
focus and our place there. If any CT people truly feel NE, I want to =
hear it. Now if you are from the 860, it may not be as shocking in the =
areas around RI and MA.
