Actually, Word was written for MS-DOS first. I remember using one of
the first versions circa 1985 (where you had to bring up the menu by
hitting ESCAPE; then the menu would appear at the bottom of the
screen). You are correct about Excel.
And the ChuckieBot also has it slightly wrong about Ami Pro, I
believe -- as I understand it, it was written first for OS/2.
