Sorry, Tom, but I agree with David.
There simply isn't enough "energy" left, after we use the majority of
what is available in our useless and impossible pursuit of
"Sustainable Growth", to permit us to engage the problem and start a
process of "planning" that might yet permit us to drastically reduce
the otherwise unavoidable costs and consequences of "Peak Oil" and
related crises.
Also, with regard to a special situation that few as yet understand,
but which I made clear some ten (10) years ago:
As we proceed on the downside of Hubbert's curve, nations that are now
still willing to sell us their oil for a mere fraction of its real
value, will choose, ever increasingly, to withold ever increasing
amounts of that they which they now allow to be sold to us; and shall
use that oil to put provisions in place to permit them to maintain
some social cohesion while the rest of the world goes mad with fear
due to the new paradigm and the majority's inability to comprehend its
essential nature.
Of course, nations with nuclear weapons and powerful militaries will
draft the sons and daughters of their poor, uneducated / under-
educated and politically disenfranchised millions and send them to
murder their opposite numbers in such countries in order that the
elite of those powerful nations may control the remaining oil and
thereby be able to continue to lord it over all others for a few more
years.
How could it be otherwise when the vast majority of those poor,
uneducated / under-educated and politically disenfranchised millions
lack spine and principles ( Or, could it be that they simply lack
"AWARENESS"??) sufficient to act on their duty to refuse to sup****t
such madness?
Speaking of which, in order to help those those poor, uneducated /
under-educated and politically disenfranchised millions become "aware"
of that right and duty, here is the sole and lawful basis of "The Tax
Refusal":
If you have a lawful duty to refuse to be party to the murder of one
or several individuals, it MUST follow that you have a similar duty to
refuse to sup****t a society that would commit mass murder for whatever
reason.
