Don't talk about "costing money" until you look where that money is
going.
Quite a bit of that money is in return for tangible assets (e.g.,
Television airtime
and production budgets for the whole election season that can be
leveraged by the
party even if Clinton is not nominated.)




Also consider this:  Clinton and Obama are worthy sparring partners
for each other
and have been fighting this whole time.  McCain, unopposed, has been
getting by
just bungling through speeches and doing very little even of that.  He
is soft by comparison.
Whoever comes out of the nominating convention as the Democratic
candidate comes out
very strong, already with a very active campaign in full swing.
McCain comes out of hibernation.
