That would assume that no marriage other than you
descibe would succeed

That simply isn't so

There are a significant number of homicides commited by
ministers, preachers and/or their spouses, commeasurate
with the numbers engaged in that career.

THere are significant numbers of faithful religious
people who are divorced and cheat---either causing
divorce or ruined marriages.

There are significant numbers of televangelists,
espousing exactly what you say is the "key" to
successful marriage---that have committed as many (or
more) of the sins---prostitu tion, "toe-tapping".
