PRESTON -- A former Spring Valley youth pastor at Valley Christian
Center was sentenced last week to 120 days in jail after pleading
guilty Feb. 25 to two counts of criminal ***ual conduct.
Derrick DeBoef, 27, now of Sherrard, Ill., was also sentenced to 23
months in prison, but that was stayed for 15 years; he will be on
probation. Setencing was Thursday in Fillmore District Court.
He was charged Feb. 2, 2007, with 32 felonies, all of them criminal
***ual conduct, for allegedly engaging in ***ual penetration and
***ual contact with the girl, who was 17 at the time. At that time,
she was meeting with him to receive religious or spiritual counseling.
