On, Saturday April 28, the 50th SF International Film Festival will
play host to Danny Glover, who served as executive producer on
Abderrahmane Sissako's Bamako, at 3:00 pm at the Sundance Cinemas
Kabuki. Bamako is set in the Malian capital of its title and centers
on a show trial in which the plaintiff, "African Society," argues
against exploitation by defendant, the World Bank. Glover will also
participate in the free panel discussion, Picturing Development, after
the film showing on April 28, at 5:30 pm. Glover will be joined by
activists and academics to discuss the issues around the development
policies fostered by the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and
other international agencies. Sissako, of course, received a 1999
Golden Gate Award for his short Life on Earth, and the Festival
screened is earlier film Waiting for Happiness in 2003. For tickets,
