Gay rights or equal rights?

by notahipee <werldpeace@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 5, 2007 at 01:22 PM

There are human rights and civil rights. But what are gay rights? Are
they supposed to be something extra? Is the homosexual allowed
something more? I believe in equal rights not extra or different
rights. If by gay rights people mean same sex marriage et al, then
this is inappropriate. Society has become accustomed to handing out
rights over the last century that it has become blind habit. Do not
misunderstand me; I am pleased that the US has been able to make
strides where others remain stubborn with regard to women, ethnic
minorities, etc. My point is that a Homosexual is entitled to the same
rights as any other person. However I believe that it is foolish to
embrace and promote homosexual lifestyles. The reason is that there is
not yet enough known about the condition or what causes it. Most
people either do not know or are not willing to admit that it is a
disorder because of their PC mentality. It is like any other disorder
be it blindness, deafness, diabetes, lactose intolerance, or dandruff.
The people that have one or more of these problems are not bad people
in fact it is understood that no one is perfect. No one wants to be
called broken or unnatural. Any and all people can lead normal and
happy lives. This condition on the other hand is serious. If an animal
species were to be afflicted with this then their mating practices
would suffer and they will decline in number and possibly become
extinct if it were widespread. It is simply a matter of understanding
our own species intended design and function. After all we are not
asexual bryophytes. In the olden days if something was different or
misunderstood it was okay to kill it. Nowadays it is almost the
opposite. People just say 'its all okay' or 'I'm not against it'. I
prefer people understand something first and then make an educated
decision. Is that an unreasonable request?
