As a neurodivergent,neurodiversity advocate, I feel that I have to say
a few things in regards to IQ tests.
I don't believe in IQ tests. Neurodivergent conditions can depress IQ
scores like AD/HD,Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,Autism(especially if they are
very nonverbal). I have Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,AD/HD myself.
My intelligence is hard to pin down. I have a strong imagination,
think mainly in pictures insteads of words,strong visualization
abilities that..meaning thinking in pictures,visualize things in my
minds eye all the time(I visualize everything before I do it even when
I am doing it like I am seeing myself in a mirror like I am directing
my mind's eye in my direction..I can look at a object and visualize
seeing it from different angles all at once...Creative visualization
is no problem for me. The Veteran Affairs neurologists recommended
engineer because I showed her that I have strong visual
spatial,problem solving skills. I do find that my thought processes
help me as an astrologer. I was too rightbrained for my own good
because of my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,ADHD. I had early intervention
special education therapies including auditory therapy,speech
therapy,phonics,and fine motor skills therapy. If I didn't have those
things,I wouldn't be able communicate in words well. I'd be similar to
being autistic. I can think verbally which I couldn't do in early
childhood. Being a nonstop picture thinker,I think far more visually.
In 2007 M. Dawson, I. Souli=E8res, M. A. Gernsbacher and L. Mottron
provided evidence that autistics score relatively higher in Raven's
tests than in Wechsler tests. In addition the autistics were providing
correct answers to the Raven's test in less time, though erring as
often as non-autistics.
Raven's Progressive Matrices (often referred to simply as Raven's
Matrices) are multiple choice tests of abstract reasoning, originally
developed by Dr John C. Raven in 1938.[1] In each test item, a
candidate is asked to identify the missing segment required to
complete a larger pattern. Many items are presented in the form of a
3x3 or 2x2 matrix, giving the test its name.

Things like Omega 3 DHA fatty acids have been linked to IQ. Fish is
well known for being brainfood. Breastfeeding and IQ have also been
known to be connected. Overall nutrition also affects overall brain
function. Nobody can think straight if they don't eat right. Anybody
with common sense knows that.
I have a neurodivergent blog that talks about neurodivergent strengths

Verbal and nonverbal conceptualizations are regarded as the two kinds
of thinking. Verbal conceptualizations are linear and results from
"thinking with the sounds of words" . A person composes mental
sentences one word at a time at the same speed as speech, which is
about 150 words a minute. In contrast, "picture thinking is estimated
to be, overall, 400 to 2000 times faster than verbal thinking. Once
information has been encoded picture thinking is all at once , it
exists outside of time . Visual thinking is spatial existing in 3
Dimensions and not the 2 Dimesions of language ' .
Visual conceptualizations are regarded as evolutionary thinking
superior to verbal conceptualization because a visual thinking style
can be both faster and more complex .Auditory sequential thinkers are
born to excel at procedural tasks like reading , spelling and short
term memory . A visual spatial thinker will if equipped with the right
tools excel with ideas , innovation , long term memory and an ability
to handle complexity .
The auditory sequential model is implemented in the classroom , listen
and learn . While this model is very effective for the AS , the visual
hands on learner is effectively excluded .Drill and repetition , step
by step instruction will not work well for visual thinkers who not
only think in pictures but also learn all at once , visual thinkers
are system thinkers who need an overview .Information needs to be
organised spatially and not tem****ally , not sequentially .
ADHD: Gifted & Creative..Edison Gene
Similarly, Edison-gene children have their own strengths and
limitations: They don't do well in the school environment of
repetition, auditory learning, and rote memorization that has been set
up for "normal" kids, and they don't make very good bookkeepers or
managers. Genetically these kids are pioneers, explorers, and
adventurers. They make great innovators, and they find high levels of
success in any field where there's a lot of change, constant
challenge, and lots of activity. Such personalities are common among
emergency room physicians, surgeons, fighter pilots, and salespeople.
What exactly defines those bearing this genetic makeup? Edison-gene
children and adults are by nature:
* Enthusiastic
* Creative
* Disorganized
* Non-linear in their thinking (they leap to new conclusions or
observations)
* Innovative
* Easily distracted (or, to put it differently, easily attracted to
new stimuli)
* Capable of extraordinary hyperfocus
* Understanding of what it means to be an "outsider"
* Determined
* Eccentric
* Easily bored
* Impulsive
* Entrepreneurial
* Energetic
All of these qualities lead them to be natural:
* Explorers
* Inventors
* Discoverers
* Leaders

In the book,THE RIGHTBRAINED CHILDREN IN A LEFTBRAINED WORLD(a book on
AD/HD),the authors believe that they should throw out the IQ tests and
that they are for wholebrained,leftbrained children and not for
rightbrained types.
Mainstream education is auditory sequential teaching methods
mainly,and that's a mismatch for visual spatial learners like myself.
I strongly believe that education reform is strongly needed. I believe
that multisensory teaching should be incor****ated in mainstream
schools. This would help decrease unnecessary diagnoses of learning
disabilities and ADHD and decrease failure and dropout rate. It would
also help more students realize the gifts they have. Most of all,it
would help increase self esteem. Low self esteem can easily affect
school work. Believing that you are stupid and incompetent can affect
performance in school and tests.
Let's get rid of the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT. President Bush's
brother,Neil is Dyslexic and there is been suspicion that he's
Dyslexic because of his word retrieval,verbal slips which I do tend to
have myself if I don't think my words carefully before I speak.
Education Reform is definitely one of my liberal beliefs. I feel that
we need to get rid of the one teaching(auditory sequential teaching)
is best for everybody.
