You, I don't have to defend my credentials or experience to someone
that is so afraid to use their own name. But here is a little
information for you to chew on since you are so determined to
discredit my original post.

The aircraft producing the sonic booms were not in existence when the
trans-Alaska pipeline or the North Pole refinery was designed and
built. So how could they be designed to withstand these types of
sonic booms? This question is so obvious I am surprised that your
brilliant mind did not catch it.

Also, the fire and explosion a Pump station 8, was partly caused to a
break in the weld made where the mainline pipeline met the Pump 8 48
inch pipe. Because of repairs to this weld the electrical power was
disconnected to the incoming 48 inch battery valve so the valve could
not be closed from Valdez after the fire started and had to be hand
closed. This took 42 minutes during which time the crude oil flowed
through an open hatch in the pump room while the fire continued to
burn out of control. Welds do crack and break from fatigue. Inside
of pipes corrode continuously. Many pump station pipes have been
found so thin that they have been replaced or taken out of
commission. This information was given to me by some long time
employees of Alyeska that have since retired.

Remote Gate Valves are controlled through communications by microwave
radio systems. The microwave dishes are on towers and when these
towers are moved as done with a sonic boom the signal sees a glitch
that could cause Gate Valves to malfunction. Again I say could
because these systems have not been tested or designed to withstand
sonic booms from unknown aircraft since the aircraft were not in
existence at the time of the original design. The bottom line is why
subject these systems to extraordinary stresses when the outcome is
not known?
