The corn used to produce one 50 liter car tank full of ethanol will
feed one child for one year according to a UN re****t. The USA, the
world's food superpower, is converting 18 percent of its grain to
ethanol this year with a goal of 45 percent by 2015. We are adding 73
million mouths a year. The global population is 6.5 billion and is
expected to grow to 9.5 billion by 2050. There is a collision course
with less food and more mouths to feed every day.
People are already dying from lack of food. The world's population is
not expected to sit around dying from starvation; they are expected to
react. Last weekend Haiti's government fell following riots over rice
and beans.
The UN re****t is worth reading for anyone because it explains what
many of us are already experiencing: higher prices for fuel and
food.
