There is a local Fairbanks company that is already trucking gas from
Anchorage to Fairbanks. They have built a local distribution pipeline
from a terminal to the new box stores like Wal-Mart, Home Depot and
the New Fred Meyers and are selling them gas used for heating these
buildings. This company is in process of building a gas liquification
plant at Prudhoe Bay and will begin trucking liquefied gas to
Fairbanks. Now I ask this: Why are our House of Representatives
voting yes to give a Canadian company $500 million to build a gas
pipeline to Canada when they say they will not start construction
until 2018? Why not give the money to a locally owned company that is
already delivering the gas where it is needed?
