REASON TO BE SKEPTICAL RE: Anti-Islamic "Victim" Ayaan Hirsi Ali

[On Saturday, Oct 13, we posted a caution (under "previous material"
below the line of asterisks), and noted that we had asked Leo Schmit
for more details. He has provided them, with a URL to a BBC story that
we're also posting below his note. The BBC story also has links to
several previous articles about this publicity hound. The American
Enterprise Institute reference takes you to their pages of
"AEI scholars," this one for Ayaan Hirsi Ali (the name Magan) is
nowhere in sight,) -NY Transfer]

Leo Schmit writes:

As a summary reference please look at the BBC article here.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4985636.stm

As for her American Enterprise affiliation, see:
http://www.aei.org/scholars/filter.all,scholarID.117/scholar.asp

In the Netherlands the number of references run into the thousands,
including public testimony by Ms Magan herself in the period prior to
her departure to the AEI in June 2006.

Not only is the story of her refugee status a fraud, even her so-called
forced departure from the Netherlands to AEI (due to the civilian
status affair) is a fraud as the lady had already conducted preliminary
negotiations with AEI and deliberately exposed herself to achieve
victim status before making the jump.

It seems to me that her return to the Netherlands two weeks ago
to claim protection funds is another publicity move to highlight her
'plight'.

This is just for the record and not to say that the plight of
women in the Islamic world is a serious problem (as it is in some other
part of the world as well).

I have read with interest and horror "Freedom Called Lethal Risk for
Jailed Afghan Women" By Aunohita Mojumdar, WeNews correspondent, and
can confirm from personal observation what this means.

But a hoax is a hoax and this will not be the last one from this
inventive lady.

Best regards,

Leo Schmit in Kabul

Profile: Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Time magazine has named Ayaan Hirsi Ali as an influential thinker
Somali-born former Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali, known for her outspoken
criticism of conservative Islam, seems unable to avoid controversy.

Caught up in a row over her Dutch citizen****p, she resigned from
parliament in May and said she would leave the Netherlands.

Her troubles began when Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk said she
should be stripped of her pass****t because of falsifications in her
asylum application when she came to the Netherlands in 1992.

But after the decision sparked uproar, Ms Verdonk made a major U-turn
and said Ms Hirsi Ali could keep her Dutch citizen****p after all.

It will not be enough to keep the 36-year-old in the country, however.

She has been offered a job at a Wa****ngton-based conservative
think-tank, the American Enterprise Institute, starting in September.

Death threats

As one of the Netherlands' most prominent politicians, the swiftness of
Ms Hirsi Ali's fall took observers by surprise.

She rose to international attention in 2004 as the writer of a
controversial film on violence against Muslim women, Submission, after
her collaborator, filmmaker Theo van Gogh, was murdered by a radical
Islamist.

Having received repeated death threats over her challenges to Islam's
treatment of women, she has been living under 24-hour police guard.

The latest furore erupted after a television do***entary highlighted
lies she had told about her name, age and how she had reached the
Netherlands when she applied for asylum 14 years ago.

Ms Hirsi Ali had admitted the falsifications in several media
interviews since 2002 and also informed her party, the
liberal-conservative VVD, before standing for parliament in 2003.

But where the do***entary seems to have hit her reputation hardest is
in interviewing members of her family who contested her claim that she
was fleeing a forced marriage when she arrived in the Netherlands aged
22.

The MP has previously explained not giving her real name, Ayaan Hirsi
Magan, and saying she was born in 1967, not 1969, because she was
afraid her family would find her.

She also told officials she had come directly from Somalia, rather than
via Kenya and Germany, thus accelerating her claim for asylum.

Ms Verdonk said in May that the falsifications made her application for
citizen****p, granted in 1997, invalid.

But a month later, Ms Verdonk wrote to the Dutch parliament saying she
had found a loophole which made it legitimate for Ms Hirsi Ali to have
used her grandfather's name in her asylum claim.

Outspoken views

Speaking to the BBC, Ms Hirsi Ali said that despite having lived in
many countries, it was "extremely im****tant" to her to be a Dutch
citizen.

I define citizen****p as declaring political allegiance to the community
you belong [to] - and that for me is Holland," she told BBC World
Service.

She said she had been "very open" about her asylum application when she
was asked to stand for parliament and had been reassured by her party
that her candidature was acceptable.

Dutch commentator Perro de Jong, of Radio Netherlands, said the uproar
over Ms Hirsi Ali's status had been fuelled by recent debate over
asylum and immigration in the Netherlands.

And he suggested that while the VVD benefited from the publicity Ms
Hirsi Ali attracted, some within the party found it difficult to accept
her outspoken views.

"You could argue that everyone liked her as a token... but maybe they
weren't willing, because she was a woman and an immigrant, to accept
her as an intellectual force - someone with her own agenda who would
speak out," he said.

She may expect a warmer welcome in the US, where Time magazine has
named her one of the most influential thinkers of our time.

CAUTION about Harris/Rushdie Claims
re anti-Islamic Poltician in the Netherlands:
http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/Week-of-Mon-20071008/070097.html

[One of our readers says the Sam Harris-Salman Rushdie Op-Ed
about Ayaan Hirsi Ali is entirely misleading. (See below).

Most people in the US remember her only from the publicity she
got after the murder of the artist Van Gogh in the Netherlands. Since
then, we've been fed a steady diet of news and commentary in the US
about how Muslim minorities, many immigrants, are causing nothing but
trouble in Western Europe and how France, the Netherlands, etc. are
dealing with the culture clashes.

We've asked for some citations in regard to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, or Ms.
Magan (as Schmit calls her). He says practically her entire history is
fake, and that she's a ****ll for the American Enterprise Institute.

In the meantime, treat the Op-Ed with caution. -NY Transfer]

Correction needed!

Ms Magan (real name) never fled from Somalia to the Netherlands. She
lived for 8 years in a suburban neighbourhood in Nairobi. The forced
marriage story is a hoax. Ms Magan is a political entrepreneur who
sails on the winds of Islam ba****ng.

Ms Magan works for the American Enterprise Institute, infamous for
its advocacy of the Iraq war, the Lebanon war and next the Iran war.

  All the best,
  Leo Schmit
