Pakistan Releases Some Detainees; Musharraf Heads to Saudi Arabia

Pakistan President in Saudi Arabia
Islamabad, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf
arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for a two-day visit, informed Geo TV
channel.
Interim Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro, and vice chief of the Army,
General Ashfaq Kayani, among other government officials, bid farewell
to Musharraf at the international air****t of Islamabad before leaving
for Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
According to Foreign Ministry spokespersons, the Pakistani president
will meet with King Abdullah to discuss the economic cooperation
between his country and Saudi Arabia.
Parallel to Musharraf's departure, the Ministry of Interior informed
media of the release of 3,400 detained or house arrested people, due to
the state of emergency decreed on November 3. Another 2000 will shortly
be released.
Also, the Election Commission scheduled parliamentary elections for
January 8 and established a timetable for political parties
candidates to register, as it was proposed by president Musharraf.
