There is no compelling evidence that the Khayzars of the region between
the Black and Caspian Seas were ever largely Jewish in religion.
Although there is evidence that the group accepted Judaism so as not to
be allied mostly with the Christian north of Islamic south that other
than their nobility was so affiliated. They were largely eventually
attacked and destroyed by the Christians to their north. Almost no
evidence that they became the Ashkenzic Jews of eastern Europe. The fact
that the Ashkenazic Jews spoke Yiddish (a high german dialect) argues
against this idea.
