On August 4, 2005, citing Chongqing Evening News, Xinhua News Agency
re****ted a controversy started by the tourism promotion of a town in
Sichuan.
Several scenic spots surround Zhongshan Town, including (tentatively
translated literally) Four-Faced Mountains, Water Mouth Temple, Twin
Peaks Temple, Jade Column Peak, Flag-Erecting Mountain, and Female
Fairy Tunnel (Hole). Local governments proposed two phrases and
solicit their matches to be used for tourism promotion purpose. The
two phrases are (with the well-known scenic spots embedded):
Mountains surrounding on four sides, bare hands
around the Twin Peaks, and poet visitors
erect flag(pole)s in the Fairy Hole
and
Mountains surrounding on four sides, Twin Peaks
bathed in water source, and poet visitors
erect flag(pole)s in the Fairy Hole
Some people complain that they are nothing but dirty restroom
