People Daily: Nearly Half of Chinese Not to Seek Medical Advice During Illness

On December 8, 2005, citing Xinhua, People Daily re****ted that in China
hospital treatment is expensive to ordinary people and about 48.9% of
them choose not to go to hospital when ill, and 29.6% of them give up
hospital visits because of the expensive bill.

which states that the government pays about 15% of the medical bill
while the patients cover about 60%.
