Jesus' teachings were quite possibly the basis of modern social democracy,
but he wasn't a social reformer. He specifically disavowed the political
separatists of his time, and advised cooperation with the political
authorities. His teachings are applicable to non-believers, but he made it
very clear that they had an entirely religious basis.
