Hello again Vidrohi,
As you can see, I'm putting now that article of yours on 11.01 plus your
addition to it on the same day, both posted to the Pakistan-based mailing
list
at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cmkp_pk/,
and also my two earlier brief
replies to you, into an item of my "UNITE! (etc) Info" series.
Here I'm adding also a third reply to you, last in this Info. It deals,
firstly, with that present-day big phenomenon of the ruling imperialists'
combating science, in several important fields of it, and disseminating
the
most bizarre and childish lies, in these fields, as "self-evident truths"
on
which "everybody, and in particular the Leftists, agree", further with the
basic motives behind these lies, and secondly, concretely with some of the
most
important ones among these big scams in the world of today.
My purpose with this last is to show you people in Pakistan (too) that
certain
propositions which are all over the main international mass media today in
fact
are very big scams, and how also we who are non-experts in the respective
fields of science can ascertain anyway that they precisely are scams.
I don't know to what extent these things are being seen through, or not
seen
through, by people in general in your country. Here in Sweden, at least
some
groups among (more or less) "ordinary people" - in particular, I think,
those
who are relatively closely connected with the reactionary bourgeois state
apparatus here and/or have functions in the fields of "official" culture
and of
(mis)information, such as journalists, lawyers, actors, pop music artists,
school teachers, social workers, medical doctors, and (perhaps
well-intentioned) adherents of certain arch-reactionary phony"Marxist"
parties
- tend to believe in these actually silly scams or at least in some of
them.
Most people in my country, quite in particular the industrial workers,
tend to
be very skeptical of everything that comes from those mass media,
including
their anti-science stuff, and will quickly realize that the big scams are
big
scams, as soon as this is pointed out and explained to them - in some
cases
perhaps not even needing this. A problem in this respect here, and as it
seems,
in many other countries too, is that there are so few public
"whistleblowers"
concerning these scams in the various fields of the natural sciences.
Here in particular the (actual) Marx adherents should help out, as well as
they
can, I hold. Although they in the main cannot be scientific experts, they
should try to acquaint themselves with at least some basic facts in
certain
important fields of the natural sciences - something which, in their time,
Marx
and Engels were particularly good at. And those who have some knowledge of
Marxism also have that advantage as potential "whistleblowers", in fields
of
science, in that they can see what are the reactionary motives of those
bourgeois forces (including the revisionist or phony"Marxist" ones) who
are
perpetrating those scams.
More on this in my third reply to you, last in this Info. I hope you or
others
don't mind that I'm making this reply rather long.

scientists who

fall in order to reject the "meta-narrative" of Marxism, Post-modernists
found
in Science their next natural enemy. Post-modernism has been properly
termed by
its recent critiques as the 'new age religion', the adversary of science
and
reason.
The strong rebuttal given by the Scientists also highlight the deep
association
between Marxism and natural sciences - an association that emerges from
shared
premises about the nature of the world and a somewhat agreed principles on
the
method to study the material. Post-modernists attacked (the past sense is
used
intentionally) the foundations of Science and Marxism, but these
foundations
were and still are strong enough to sustain the aggression of mere
verbosity.
Post-modernism is in great crisis. It's dying away with every passing day.
Yet
some stay loyal to hyper-subjectivity finding themselves unable to accept
the
logocenterism that will prevail otherwise. I urge these faithful, very
humbly,
to accept the uncomplicated challenge posed by Alan Sokal, so that the
matter
be decided once for and all:
"Anyone who believes that the laws of physics are mere social conventions
is
invited to try transgressing those conventions from the windows of my
apartment. (I live on the twenty-first floor.)"
It is uncomplicated, isn't it?

Michael Parenti: The Slippery Slope of Cultural Relativism:
When culture is treated as nothing more than an innocent accretion of
solutions
and practices, and each culture is seen as something inviolate, then all
cultures are accepted at face value and cultural relativism is the
suggested
standard. So we hear that we should avoid ethnocentrism and respect other
cultures. To be sure, after centuries in which indigenous cultures have
been
trampled underfoot by colonizers, we need to be acutely aware of the
baneful
effects of cultural imperialism and of the oppressive intolerance
manifested
toward diverse ethnic cultures within our own society.
But the struggle to preserve cultural diversity should not give carte
blanche
to anyone in any society to violate basic human rights. Many patriarchal
cultures, for example, are replete with "sacrosanct customs" that, on
closer
examination, promote the worst kinds of gender victimization, including
the
mutilation of female children through clitorectomy and infibulation, and
the
sale of young girls into sexual slavery. I once heard an official from
Saudi
Arabia demand that Westerners show respect for his culture: he was
addressing
critics who denounced the Saudi practice of stoning women to death on
charges
of adultery. He failed to mention that there were people within his own
culture—including, of course, the female victims—who were not enamored of
such
time-honored traditions.
For most of U.S. history, slaveholders and then segregationists insisted
that
we respect the South's "way of life." In Nazi Germany, anti-Semitism was
an
integral part of the ongoing political culture. Many evildoers might rally
under the banner of cultural relativism. The truth is, as we struggle for
human
betterment, we must challenge the oppressive and destructive features of
all
cultures, including our own.
In academic circles, postmodernist theorists offer their own variety of
cultural relativism. They reject the idea that human perceptions can
transcend
culture. For them, all kinds of knowledge are little more than social
constructs. Evaluating any culture from a platform of fixed and final
truths,
they say, is a dangerous project that often contains the seeds of more
extreme
forms of domination. In response, I would argue that, even if there are no
absolute truths, this does not mean all consciousness is hopelessly
culture-bound. People from widely different societies and different
periods in
history can still recognize forms of class, ethnic, and gender oppression
in
various cultures across time and space. Though culture permeates all our
perceptions, it is not the totality of human experience.
At the heart of postmodernism's cultural relativism is an old-fashioned
anti-Marxism, an unswerving ideological acceptance of existing bourgeois
domination. Some postmodernists depict themselves as occupying "positions
of
marginality," taking lonely and heroic stands against hoards of
doctrinaire
hardliners who supposedly overpopulate the nation's campuses. So the
postmodernists are able to enjoy the appearance of independent critical
thought
without ever saying anything that might jeopardize their academic careers.

HERE'S MY THIRD REPLY TO YOU:
That Alan Sokal Affair (in 1996) which you mentioned I hadn't heard about
before. It was a funny thing: An article, submitted to a "science" journal
with
an obviously new and "very advanced and interesting" way of jumbling
together
some highly scientific terms already in the heading, "Transgressing the
Boundaries: Towards a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity", and
the
text being made up entirely of some bullsh-t of precisely the same type,
which
nobody could understand, because there was nothing to understand.
A good criticism of those large amounts of "junk science" which the ruling
imperialists and some people subservient to them were disseminating, in
several
socially important fields in the natural sciences, which had already been
going
on for a long time and in particular since the early 1970s, when that
which may
be called a "green" (anti-industrial) warfare, directed against
practically
everybody on earth, began in earnest.
The Alan Sokal "Affair" consisted in some so-called "scientists'", not
least
some "postmodernist" and/or phony"leftist" ones, being very upset at this
bullseye caricature and well-deserved criticism of that utter bullsh-t
which
they themselves always filled their articles.
Unfortunately, I could not get the first of your three links about this to
work, but the other two are informative enough.
Concerning the then new technology, Marx said in a speech in London in
1856:
"Steam, electricity, and the self acting mule were revolutionists of a
rather
more dangerous character than even citizens Barbès, Raspail and Blanqui."
And:
"This antagonism between modern industry and science on the one hand,
modern
misery and dissolution on the other hand; this antagonism between the
productive powers and the social relations of our epoch is a fact,
palpable,
overwhelming, and not to be controverted. Some parties may wail over it;
others
may wish to get rid of modern arts, in order to get rid of modern
conflicts. Or
they may imagine that so signal a progress in industry wants to be
completed by
as signal a regress in politics."

At that
Marxists Internet Archive, there is a translation of that speech, which
Marx
held in English, into German too, submitted by me, and one into Swedish,
which
I made in 1992 because I held it to be so important not least in our
time.)
And concerning capitalism and science, Marx wrote, in a first draft of a
letter
to Vera Zasulich in Russia in 1881:
"...the capitalist social system...in Western Europe as well as in the
United
States, [is] engaged in battle both with science, with the popular masses,
and
with the very productive forces it engenders."

In this way, Marx already, some 100 years in advance, pointed to that
enormous
battle in the world, one important part of the international class
struggle,
which was to take place in the world in particular from the early 1970s
on,
when the main imperialists began in earnest that which I'm calling "green"
warfare, directed against the people in all countries. Important parts of
that
sneak-type warfare, which has caused much more destruction and killed many
more
people than all the imperialists' (and social-imperialists')
openly-violent
aggressions in that same time, the last 35 years, taken together, are some
very
big lies in several fields of the natural sciences. These lies have been
systematically disseminated by the reactionary mass media, which
unfortunately
have been helped in this by certain organizations too, here in Europe and
in
North America, which have gone under the designation of "Marxist" or
"Marxist-Leninist" parties but in reality have a precisely contrary
character.
One thing which many of these lies have in common is that they are
intended to
help the main imperialists *make all energy scarce and expensive on
purpose*.
Why would they do such a thing, one may ask. Aren't the ruling capitalists
themselves losing a lot of profit possibilities by this? Yes, they are.
This is
also why a certain small, or at least politically weak, minority of
industrial
capitalists are complaining about these nonsensical lies and sometimes are
opposing and publicly refuting them too. But then they are being told by
their
own governments, mass media and the phony"Marxist" puppet organizations of
these governments not to be so "terribly greedy" but to think instead of
the
"environment", the political one, that is, and make some sacrifices for
the
"common good" of the ruling class of exploiters, oppressors and mass
murderers,
as a whole.
The thing is, that this political "environment" today "requires", as seen
from
the standpoint of these utterly small ruling reactionary cliques, that the
industry in the "rich" countries largely be strangled, and the workers or
potential such there thus made to be unemployed, reduced to live on some
handouts from the bourgeois states, which these are getting above all from
increased exploitation of the poorer, internationally-oppressed countries,
and
it "requires" of course that those last-mentioned countries don't get
industrialized "too much"; so that the people there shall not raise
themselves
above their present-day situation of extremely low-paid labour power,
which is
even the main basis of the entire imperialist social "order" in the world
today.
What's the (longer-term, and only) solution to this, then? Proletarian
revolution, revolutionary war, in which the vast majority of people in all
countries support each other so as jointly to take over this planet, of
course.
It's well-known that there are some difficulties in the carrying out of
this
programme. But clearly, a scientific appraisal of the present situation in
the
world and also of recent history indicates that this now rather old
"recipe"
prescribed by Marx and also by Lenin and by Mao Zedong is the only one
that
will cure that present social "sickness" which, in different ways in
different
regions, seriously afflicts practically everybody on earth.
What are some of the big lies in fields of science, disseminated by those
small
but still very powerful cliques of ruling reactionaries who, so to speak,
make
up that sickness, in order to make it (their rule) last a little longer,
and
how can you see that they indeed are big, even ridiculous lies?
On all of those mentioned below, there's more at, or to be found via, my
homepage - see its sections "Subjects in postings" and "Links".
1. THE PROPOSITION: "THE PEACEFUL UTLIZATION OF NUCLEAR ENERGY IS A BAD
THING"
Not true, of course. Really a very silly idea. Correct is the statement by
a
rather well-known scientist:
"The discovery of the controlled fission of atomic nuclei and controlled
release of atomic energy is the greatest discovery that has been made
since the
controlled use of fire was made by primitive man."
(Linus Pauling, textbook "General Chemistry", 1954)
That's a statement which, for instance, we have at the top of the website
main
page of our non-party-political small Committee Save Barsebäck, with
members
both here in Sweden and in neighbouring Denmark, protesting (alas, so far
unsuccessfully) against the scandalous and criminal action by the
miserably
reactionary government here, at the behest of their "big Masters" in the
world,
the US imperialists, and strongly opposed by practically everybody in this
country, to close down a certain excellently well-functioning nuclear
power
plant, which was producing 6 percent of all electricity in Sweden. It's at

You can see that this statement is true already by comparing the amount of
energy which you get out of 1 kg of uranium - 60,000 kWh of electricity,
in the
ordinary, "thermic" nuclear reactors of today, or some 2.2 million kWh (at
least) in breeder reactors, which however the US imperialists have managed
to
ban completely in most parts of the world - to the amount you get out 1
kg of
oil, the second-most modern energy source, which is 12 kWh of heat or 4
kWh of
electricity.
Unfortunately, the tendency in the whole world today is that precisely
this the
most superior energy source is being marginalized more and more. As is
shown in
a diagram at http://www.uic.com.au/nip07.htm,
the share of nuclear power
in the
world's electricity production rose up to some17 percent in1988, then was
only
constant for some ten years and in the last few years decreased to 16
percent
in 2006. Other reports say that the main international institutes expect
it to
even go down to 10-12 percent by 2030. This is one of the big disasters of
the
present-day social "order".
Another way of using nuclear technology of course is for making atom
bombs. The
US imperialists, who have the biggest stack of such by far, and their
closest
friends, since long of course are trying to prevent other countries, in
particular the poorer ones, from getting such technology, the "noocular"
one
(Bush), because then these countries could not only get nuclear power
plants
for "too much" industrial development but also some A-bombs of their own,
which
would make it more difficult for that big "protagonist of democracy" to
come
and "help keep the peace" in them directly with some military forces of
theirs,
as they are doing in Iraq and in Afghanistan today, for instance. As I
wrote
and argued for in my Info #302en, "On Pakistan, Afghanistan, A-bombs and
oil",
of 03.01.2008, it's a good thing for the people in the world that Pakistan
has
at least a few of such weapons and has not signed that
big-power-extortionist
"treaty" the "NPT".
2. THE PROPOSITION: "THERE IS HARMFUL MANMADE GLOBAL WARMING"
This is a very "popular" one, with more or less all the imperialist
"friends of
humanity" today. Now that they have managed to "contain" almost completely
the
most modern energy source by far, they are going after the secondmost
modern
ones too, oil and natural gas, and also coal - not so modern as those
others,
of course, but still necessary in many of the less developed countries.
Bush in
his "State of the Union" speech in January 2006 for instance said that the
USA
was "*addicted to*" oil - a substance, thus, which some among the
putrefying
bourgeoisie today even have come to think is some kind of poison - and
that the
"energy future", for that same bourgeoisie, would lie in such things,
among
others, as *wood chips*. - Yes, it's true. See my Info #249en. And no, you
shouldn't really laugh at it. This is quite serious political "business".
Scientifically, that big "greenhouse" hoax has stood completely refuted
since
many years back, which for instance Taimur Rahman, of your party the CMKP,
forwarded a science report about to your mailing list in November 2007. It
can
be seen even more clearly today because the earlier small, natural and
favourable warming, of some 0.6ºC during a century from 1880 on, after
1998 has
been replaced by a slight global cooling. Furthermore, there recently were
some
reports by some scientists which I thought quite likely might be true and
therefore mentioned on 08.01 in my series' "News with brief comments" item
336,
"A cold spell soon to replace global warming (Sorokhtin, Ru; SSRC,
Florida)".
3. THE PROPOSITION: "WE'LL SOON RUN OUT OF OIL!"
That too is a real bourgeois "blooper". Here I shall just repeat something
which I wrote about that in my abovementioned Info #302en:

PRODUCTION OF THIS TOO
As I happen to know, oil and natural gas by no means have "biological"
origins,
as almost all the imperialists' mass media still maintain, but stem from
giant
amounts of such hydrocarbons in the earth's mantle, much of which are
constantly seeping upwards (on oil's being created at depths of over 100
km,
you can read the many expert articles at http://www.gasresources.net/
or
else a
rather long one by me at my homepage, index, 30.12.2006).
Thus a country such as Pakistan, which lies in a region with many
earthquakes
and thus some big cracks in the earth's crust there, down towards the
mantle,
should have very good conditions for largescale and cheap extraction of
oil and
natural gas, I calculated, and was just about to look up some information
about
that country's actual such production, when I saw in a mail sent today
(from
Liz Burbank <lizburbank@[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Pakistan has estimated 25.1 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven gas
reserves of
which 19 trillion are located in Balochistan. Among foreign oil and gas
contractors in Balochistan are BP, Italy's ENI, Austria's OMV, and
Australia's
BHP. It is worth noting that Pakistan's State oil and gas companies,
including
PPL which has the largest stake in the Sui oil fields of Balochistan are
up for
privatization under IMF-World Bank supervision.
According to Oil and Gas Journal (OGJ), Pakistan had proven oil reserves
of 300
million barrels, most of which are located in Balochistan. Other estimates
place Balochistan oil reserves at an estimated six trillion barrels of oil
reserves both on-shore and off-shore (Environment News Service, 27 October
2006). The Balochi resistance movement dates back to the late 1940s, when
Balochistan was invaded by Pakistan. In the current geopolitical context,
the
separatist movement is in process of being hijacked by foreign powers.

Quite possibly, that author's theory about some intentions of the US and
other
imperialists' is approximately correct.
But what such writers never point out is, firstly, that obviously,
Pakistan's
actual oil and natural gas reserves are much larger than those mentioned
in
that article - in fact, in case there are even some open conduits there
all the
way to the earths' mantle (which begins at 15-40 km down), as is possibly
the
case in several other countries (too), then there are even in practice
limitless amounts of these substances that can be extracted in Pakistan.
And secondly, that "big secret" that the US imperialists absolutely want
to
curtail all such production, as much as they can, is never as much as
hinted
at, in such articles, either.
But this is also something that as many as possible, in Pakistan as in
other
countries, should know about.

Likewise completely a big fraud, with some nasty purposes, above all
directed
against the people in the poorer countries but for creating considerable
difficulties for those in the "rich" ones too. I wrote on this, in my Info

No, the "ozone hole" propaganda, very intensive more than 20 years ago and
still 10 years ago, but not so often repeated today since the facts so
very
obviously have refuted it, is an utter hoax too. By the way, this was also
one
of Al Gore's "favourites".
There never was any "depletion" of the ozone layer due to CFC use. This
you can
see very clearly simply by taking a quick look at two continually updated
graphs by the official institute the SMHI here in Sweden (which, despite
these
graphs, does continue the wrong propaganda). The propaganda said that also
after the - environmentally totally unjustified - bans against CFC use by
the
"Montreal Protocol" in 1987, earlier CFC emissions would still continue to
reach the stratosphere, creating "particularly serious depletion" around
2000-2001.
But it's all complete nonsense. One of the graphs you can look at shows
the
mean level of ozone over Norrköping, Sweden, from February 1988 to the
present,
and shows that it has been practically precisely constant:

This means that it has been constant too at least over all points on the
globe
at the same latitude.

The other graph shows the seasonal variations of the ozone level over
Norrköping in this year, 2007, and shows that the level has remained as
good as
precisely within that normal band for such which was established by
measurements at nearby Uppsala in 1951-1966, before there was much CFC use
(and
you can look up the variations in 2006, 2005 etc too and find the same):

The CFCs are excellent substances, not possible to replace except with
some
very expensively-produced and also much less effective ones, for
refrigeration
etc. And the arch-reactionary bans against them have hit very hard the
refrigeration industries in the internationally-oppressed and exploited
countries, thus creating difficulties for the storing and transportation
of
vital foodstuffs and medicines there. Probably this was the main intention
behind them too, on the part of the US imperialists, the main perpetrators
of
the "ozone hole" hoax and these bans.
Like the anti-nuclear-energy campaign, the "greenhouse" hoax and the
"HIV"/"AIDS" terror hoax too, the "ozone hole" propaganda and the
corresponding
measures is a campaign for mass destruction and mass murder in the world.
It
has killed quite a lot of people already and is continuing to kill many,
since
the imperialists of course have no intention of lifting their bans against
the
CFCs.
I made an investigation, as thorough as I could, of this question in 2002,
and
posted a detailed "UNITE! Info #166en: The 'ozone hole' terror hoax", part

etc, on it, on 20.03.2002, which you can find at my homepage. A quick look
at
those graphs I mentioned however is sufficient, I think, for seeing the
absurdity of that hoax. Its dire predictions precisely have been
falsified, so
now the imperialists are trying instead, "look, our CFC bans are repairing
the
ozone depletion". But the observations clearly show too that there never
was
any such "depletion" to begin with.

Those propositions are all parts of what may be called a "quackery
warfare" -
see my homepage - a very big phenomenon in the world too, which I on my
part
only rather recently have gotten to learn something about and concerning
which
I can only mention some few facts here, those which I think are the most
important ones. I've written two Infos (directly) about it, #277en

I'm including a kind of summary on this now by repeating, last in this
rather
long reply to you, another passage from that abovementioned Info #301en in

For seeing what's behind the big ""HIV"/"AIDS" terror campaign,
perpetrated in
particular in Africa but importantly also internationally since over two
decades back, one should *not* above all "follow the money", although
you're
quite right in that there's quite big money in it too, for Big Pharma, and
in
that those companies are "in on" some massive attacks against the people
in
some countries in Africa quite in particular.
This "AIDS business" too is a thing about which you above all should
"follow
the bourgeoisie's continued-dictatorship needs", or "the need to sustain
imperialism's hegemony", as I wrote above, concerning the big "greenhouse"
hoax.
As some uncorrupted scientists since long have demonstrated, there is *no*
"HIV", nor anything that might justifiably be called "AIDS". These are a
fantasy invention, respectively a terror-propagandistic renaming of over

real diseases which have nothing in common, and none of which is caused by
any
virus, this invention and renaming originating from the
military-controlled
"Epidemic Intelligence Service" ("EIS") of the US imperialists, a "CIA of
medicine".
The aim of it all is to terrorize people everywhere, in particular to
infect
relations between men and women and also those between Africans and
others, to
make people suspicious of each other and thus counteract their tendency to
unite against imperialism, their common enemy.
Not least is the imperialists' aim with their "HIV"/AIDS" terror campaign
also
to induce and press people to accept some very poisonous purported
"medicines
against" (the non-existing) "HIV" or "AIDS", and thus maim or kill
millions, in
which they have succeeded too, above all in Africa.
The trick here is, that it's the purported "cures" that constitute the
real and
mortal danger, while the purported "danger" is an imaginary one, invented
by
the imperialists for terrorizing people and fooling or forcing some of
them to
accept the poisonous "cures".
The "AIDS" terror campaign has not been the only one in which that same
trick
has been used or at least been tried. One of many parallel ones, for
instance,
was the big "bird flu" campaign of 2005-2006, using another fantasy
"virus"
invention, "H5N1", for making people "accept" some only harmful
vaccinations.

And this thing goes even further, and a long way back in history too.
As it turns out, as has been clearly demonstrated (again by uncorrupted
scientists) in the last few decades, there are no viruses or bacteria
whatsoever that cause diseases in humans, animals or plants. This is a
fact
that of course goes straight against more or less everything that the
prevailing "official medicine" has long maintained, straight against what
practically everybody has been taught since childhood.
Not only are all vaccines only harmful and do no good whatsoever - as one
Africa-directed e-zine, GLAC, has discovered, warning: "*Attention
parents, la
vaccination est une arme de guerre!*"; "*Watch out, parents, vaccinations
are a
weapon of war!*" (see my homepage, index, 24.07.2007) - but the same goes
also
for all antibiotics. They're "fighting the firebrigade instead of fighting
the
fire". The existing microbes in human bodies in fact have only *positive*
functions, including *healing* ones; there are no "harmful invasions" of
any
such "from the outside".
It's not the case that some antibiotics, "by excessive use", can cause
"certain
dangerous invading microbes" to "become resistant", as all the "official"
literature says and as you wrote too. Their harmful effects lie in killing
the
*helpful* microbes, and there are no "dangerous invading" such at all. The
disease called "TB" or "white plague", for instance, is *not* caused by
any
such, and neither is any other disease.
There is no "contagion", are no "epidemics". Many diseases, though, are
caused
by poisonings of various kinds, including by poisons which bacteria can
produce
in *oxygen-poor* conditions, *not* in living creatures but in *dead*
biological
matter. And the vaccines and antibiotics precisely are (contain) poisons
too,
and can do no good whatsoever.
This is another *big secret*, which not only Big Pharma, but even more the
imperialists' politicians, mass media and phony"Marxist" ventriloquists'
puppets, are *fanatical* about preventing people from discovering.
- So far that passage about quackery warfare.
Once again, I want to repeat that of course I support the just struggle by
you
people in Pakistan, who obviously are in a difficult situation right now
but
undoubtedly will reply to the attacks by your adversaries - basically the
same
as those of most people here in Sweden - with some even bigger blows in
self-defence, contributing to the common just cause of the people in all
countries.
