    Oregonians for Immigration Reform:

OFIR made front page news in The Oregonian today, with this headline:
"Tempers collide on immigration; Protests - The national issue
erupts in Oregon as activists for and against tightening the border
clash at a Cornelius labor site," by Esmeralda Bermudez, The
Oregonian.

http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/1157041504108660.xml&coll=7

Above the headline were quotes from Rick Hickey representing OFIR and
Miguel Rubio, a day laborer.

The article, like most news articles and editorials in The Oregonian,
is unfriendly to opponents of illegal immigration and to OFIR.

Inside the news section was a full-page presentation on the Minuteman
group, headlined "Volunteers or vigilantes." This included two
articles, one from the New York Times, a consistent advocate for
massive immigration, and one from The Associated Press. In the
corner of this page under "To learn more" were listed, in this
order, web addresses for the two Minuteman groups, Southern Poverty
Law Center, FOMguard Inc, National Immigration Forum (an immigration
lawyers site), Northwest Treeeplanters and Farmers United, and We Are
America.

Readers are not as easily fooled today as in the past, thanks to the
Internet with its wide range of news and opinion, which counters the
biased reporting of many large newspapers.

If you'd like to write a letter to the editor of The Oregonian
concerning today's articles, here are addresses:

by email:  letters@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 fax:  503-294-4193

Their letters policy: Limit letters to 150 words and include your home
address and day time phone number.

In addition to OFIR's website, http://oregonir.org,
there are two
other websites in Oregon that carry information related to illegal
immigration.  They are:  http://danielisright.blogspot.com,
and
http://deportgordonsmith.com
 The latter site has just added a page on
the Maywood CA demonstration, Aug. 26, at which pro-illegal immigration
demonstrators pulled down the American flag and raised the Mexican flag
at the U.S. Post Office. Some citizens there supporting immigration
controls were injured by the violent opposition groups; this event has
been ignored by the mainstream media.

Some national websites with reliable information on immigration issues
are: http://www.fairus.org;
http://steinreport.com;
http://cis.org;
http://numbersusa.com;
http://www.alipac.us/
   A good website listing
current newspaper articles, with pungent comment, is:
http://www.americanpatrol.com/.
