this is an example of what a handful for people can do and oregon has
about a million people asleep and only a handful awake! also , just
about every landscaping and constuction business is filled by illegals
here and a new thing to note is that they have all mexican crews - this
is discrimation against non latino americans and a legtimate law suit
could be filed. I have started carrying a pen and pad to jot down car
tags and names of companies - its pretty depressing- there are
americans out of work and no one should have to work next to an illegal
who speaks spanish and has stolen id
also -many under the table landscaping businesses
Day Labor Protest 9/1/06
On Friday, 9/1, OFIR participated again in a protest against illegal
hiring at the day labor site in Cornelius. Today, 9/2, The Oregonian
newspaper carried a large front-page story with photographs about the
protest, featuring the Oregon chapter of the Minuteman organization and
its leader, Mike Forest .
"New front in illegal immigration fight: Oregon - A state worker
forms a Minuteman chapter to watch day laborers and people who hire
them," by Janie Har, The Oregonian.

Also station KATU-TV aired a report yesterday and again this morning.
Here is Rick Hickey's report on the protests:
A big THANK YOU & Congratulations are in order for all friends of
Oregonians for Immigration Reform.
Thank you to the new Minutemen chapter also.
The Cornelius Day Labor Site is effectively CLOSED!
Proof is finally available via the main stream Media.
One of my goals since day one has been that big exposure CAN cause big
change, so yes I am pleasantly surprised also.
Thank you to The Oregonian & KATU CH 2 TV for acknowledging that, yes
they are here Illegally.
And yes Centro Cultural called in all the "day laborers" into the
building there for a meeting because no one is stopping to pick up
"workers" any longer. (One did with only 2 guys; one other attempted
and left empty handed after I gave him a flyer with the Federal law and
then directions to Labor Ready agency, because no one would present him
with a Green Card)
See what you did here folks? He would not have asked for a Green Card
without us there.
They are all worried that we can surprise them and show up at any time
or day, as we did yesterday.
You and I understand that this exposure & impact means in actuality,
every Politician and every person working for their election, will see
that we will make changes, and they need to do something or they are
gone.
All the noise Sunday from the No Border Marchers is even more futile
now.
The Video of the KATU broadcast will be available soon if you missed
our most victorious newscast ever.
I hope to see you all Wednesday at the Governor Candidate Forum in
Woodburn, on the impact of Illegal Immigration. This event on the 6th
includes Mary Starrett, Constitution Party candidate for Governor,
Oregon Minutemen, OFIR VP. In addition, all candidates for Governor
have been invited. Media including The Oregonian have expressed an
interest in reporting.
Details coming soon. If not, I hope to see you at the OFIR meeting
next Saturday, the 9th.
We are making a difference together. There is more to accomplish.
Winning is fun, come be a part of the fun.
Rick Hickey, VP OFIR
