Provincial Sales tax is 8%
Good and Services is 7%
An average of 12% on >10,000
An average of 30% on >120,000 approx
Gas is 200%
Smokes and vice are typically around 1000%
A big killer of our healthcare is pharma (over 50% I believe). It does
save lives
2 bail out packages for CIBC (bank) within two years totalling 25-30
billion.
Our pensions went into Nortel at around 118, two months later the
price was under 3. Nasty stuff... I hear our politician made a killing
on it (if there's ever a silver lining).
One really cool thing, there's a seed shop or two. Mr Nice and Super
Silver Haze or even some plain old Afghani is always a treat. The cops
are proactively cool and most of the people are friendly.
