I dreamt this long, long ago:
"...I had entered a ship lying in the harbour. I entered the stern
half of the ship by passing a rail. I walked about on the rear part
for a while until the captain caught sight of me. He gave me a
scolding and said that I had entered the forbidden area and jumbled up
the pattern of little coloured marbles that had meticulously been
placed on the floor. This was the programmed route for the ship, and
now it had been destroyed. The captain compelled me to work on the
boat while it was now about to leave. My task was to start rectifying
the pattern of coloured marbles. A very difficult and long-term
task..."
Comment:
Individuation is a spiritual pilgrimage, and there is a drive inside
our soul not to lead a pre-programmed life. Normal worldly people lead
pre-programmed lives, they sit on the train travelling to their
destination. But individuation implies programming your journey
according to your inner nature. I understand this "programming work"
as symbolic of individuation. So if the marbles are not "jumbled up",
then life will revolve around making a career, etc. But individuation
implies taking charge of one's life according to the inner
"spiritual", and not worldly, demands. Of course, life is not always
so simple. One cannot always follow the spiritual path. It depends on
circumstances of life.
