That's just the point I was also getting at.  I too am tired of
theories and functional explanations.  I'd like to see some of
these languages in action.  It doesn't necessarily have to be in
a *real* situation.  A simulation of a real situation, like your
radio announcement, is good enough to demonstrate practical
usage.  If someone has trouble with that then I can only thing
of two possibilties:  1. The language isn't capable of handling
these basic needs.  2.  The person using the language isn't yet
competent enough to express these things.  In this case, I'm
sure it's not number 2.
