Re: tweaking your conlang

by Rick Harrison <not@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 23, 2007 at 12:23 PM

I think my first major project (Vorlin) is a worst case scenario of
endless tweaking. Originally starting as an a priori philosophical
auxlang and ending up as an a posteriori artlang. The only thing that
remained constant was the idea that the vocabulary was based on nouns
of Consonant-Vowel-Consonant shape.

In retrospect I wish I had created several offspring of Vorlin along
the way, instead of repeatedly demoli****ng and rebuilding Vorlin. I
could have had one variant with lots of Chinese vocabulary, another
variant with all the vocab from Germanic and Slavic, etc.

For me I feel better about tweaking a conlang that has never been
published. I will think carefully before revealing my conlangs in the
future.
