His concern is waiting time and that's a fact. It can take months to
get an MRI in Canada. In the US an MRI can be scheduled in less than
a week. This is particularly relevant to cancer which can be a very
time sensitive disease. Months and sometimes even weeks can make the
difference between remission and a long, suffering death.
Neither system is perfect and IMO, each can take from the other.
Canada may have a doctor to patient ratio comparable to America's but
I know they're short on radiologists and other technical personnel.
