Why many Australian ****ist places are no longer family friendly

Hi Terry,

Here are two letters that were posted in Australian Sun & Health magazine
over 6 years ago as to why a number of clubs here no longer want to cater
for kids. The logic of the second guy in question escapes me, especially
for a ****ist!

Trev (Savannah Park, Qld)

In reference to the letter from Alan (QLD), Your Say, Issue 77. As the
owner of a childfree ****ist venue, I wish to voice my strongest objection
to
this narrow-minded person's suggest that childfree venues are little more
thn places for adults to 'play up'. An attitude like this has the
potential
to do the ****ist movement much damage.
This is far from the truth as the main reason for a number of ****ist
venues
being 'child free' is that 90% of our visitors are retired, childless, or
their children have grown up and left home. They choose to come to the
****ist resorts to relax in the stress free and peaceful environments we
provide. Unfortunately, many parents, do not supervise their children
adequately in social settings and around swimming pools, dams, pool tables

etc. This obviously detracts from the enjoyment of other visitors and
puts
added pressure on the property owners.
As parents of five grown up children, my wife and I love children and the
joy their company can bring, but a ****ist venue where people come to relax

is not, in our humble opinion, a place for children. If Alan has had
unfortunate experiences at 'adults only' ****ist venues in the past, we
feel
for him, but please do not expect us to take responsibility for his past
disappointments. If Alan chooses to think a bit beyond his past
experiences, he may adopt a more mature approach to these issues, and
hopefully appreciate the quality of peace and quiet in his retirement.
Ironically, after Alan's request for accommodation, my wife and I went
against our own rules and put in lovely accommodation on our property,
which
they accepted over the phone. However, a few hours later after his due
time
of arrival he called to advise us that they didn't want to stay with us.
Sadly, this decision was a loss to that family, as they missed one of the
best and most popular ****ist venues according to comments we get from our
visitors.

Lance (Tintagel, Qld)

Even if no other resort replies to Alan (Qld), issue 77, I will. Firstly
let me congratulate you on having probably the only 6 year old in the
world
that is well behaved. You really are blessed. Obviously we are one of
"Those Resorts" that you have phone and been told we do not take children.

Yes there is a good reason for it and it certainly is not the one you
intimate. You are obviously proud in the fact that you are the father of
a
six year old at 55 years of age, but let me assure you most adults at this

time of lif are looking to get away from kids and have a break. You
probably went on a one-off ****ist holiday and were disheatrened by the
fact
that some resorts have got the sense not to have children. Probably be
another five years before you go on another ****ist holiday. By this time
the ones that don't take children will have gone out of business your
daughter will have grown her first pubic hair and will not want to go with

Mummy and Daddy anymore and you will be saying, "where can we got that
don't
take children". Believe me in the eight years we have been operating we
have seen it all. Most parents take their children to a ****ist venue to
have a break and let them mix with other children and forget about them.
Unfortunately whilst Mum and Dad are having a few drinks with friends the
kids are off getting up to no good and no one is watching them. Quick as
a
flash disaster strikes. Fallen into the pool and cracked his/her head
open,
got into an argument and been punched up, lit the gas BBQ and blown
his/her
head off, fallen into hot coals with third degree burns and the list goes
on. It couldn't happen to you Alan, as your Daughter is well behaved and
you probably watch her, but what about other parents who are not so
watchful? Should anything untoward happen to your daughter of course your

solicitor will advise you not to sue the establishment won't they? Think
about it. Some three to four years ago paedophilia was a big headline and

indeed one venue in Queensland has had trouble. We have been scrutinised
by
the police in the last six months wanting to know if we have children at
our
venue. When we told them they were welcome to check the place out but we
don't children, that was it. The Police did tell us this directive had
come
from Canberra to check on all venues in the ****ist industry that accept
children. Under legal advice were were advised not to have children.
Later
in life, what appears natural now may backfire. For instance your child
becomes the Prime Minister, the media drags up old clips puts them to air
and bingo no more Prime Minister. Your child becomes a drug addict, a
rapist, or a murderer and a smart lawyer drags out that the child was
subjected to ****ity against his/her will and this has caused the child to
go
off the rails. ****ist venues could then face a lawsuit. We for one do
not
want to run te risk thank you very much. As the laws change and the abuse

of the system continues thing can only get worse. Ask yourself why the
governments/local councils are reluctant to legalise **** beaches. Could
it
have something to do with the fact they don't want to promote a possible
trouble free spot, which they claim the ****ists promote? When all is said

and done it is the ****ist at fault, because if the ****ists weren't there,
there wouldn't be a problem. I hope you get my point. Without
prejudice."
