I have to admit that's true. Right before we became parents my spouse and
I saved a toddler from falling into the local club's hot tub. Granny was
in charge that day (Mom and Dad needed a break?) and Granny was nowhere to
be found.
Was she drinking? Maybe.
When she finally did show up, she tried to spin this that her grandchild
trying to get into the hot tub was somehow OUR fault. I told Granny she'd
better start paying attention because there's no life guard on duty.
Yeah, the writer makes some good points. You don't go to camp to dump
your
kids off. At least I don't. It's simply not safe. Water and young kids
don't mix.
And camp isn't day care either. If people want to be relieved of their
parental duties they need to hire a baby sitter.
Personally, I have a hard time doing this because I insist that all my
baby
sitters have (or be working on) a Master's in Early Child Development and
be at least 25 years old. I don't think anyone younger than that or
having
less education can actually take care of my children. :-) Actually, I'm
just lucky to live near a university and there are lots of grad students.
Now if only some of them were ****ists!
