As soon as I mentioned it they all ran from the room, screaming! B^D
The Lieberals should never have placed such a GST burden on ordinary
working Australians, just so they could give their mates in the
economic elites massive INCOME TAX CUTS, a second polo field
at their elite school, and health funds that sold discount
sets of golf clubs, while invalid pensioners like Liz had
to eat worms! B^[
LEST WE FORGET THE GREAT TORY TAX SWINDLE:
http://www.geocities.com/wmds_r_us/tory_tax_swindle.htm
But the Liberal backflip on petrol taxes has opened Pandora's
Box and now we can look with open eyes at the huge GST burden,
WHERE HOWARD's GST ON YOUR PETROL PAID FOR SARAH AND LACHLAN
MURDOCH'S BABY BONUS!! 8^o
It seems that unlike the Liberals, the ALP LISTENS:
I was the first to see that Nelson's backflip on
petrol tax opened the door to consider the REAL monster,
THE Greedy Selfish Tax:

Clearly the ALP is a government that LISTENS to good ideas! B^D
It warms my heart that after I made this suggestion, and the ALP
saw the political acuity of it.. that a shudder went through
the Liberals.. and a Great Silence descended.
There are re****ts from tory HQ that some have placed their heads in
ovens and asked for middle class welfare for some gas to top themselves!
Others, particularly the stooges on Usenet, have taken the Ostrich
approach.. sticking their heads up each others arses so they don't
have to witness the awful truth.
They thought losing the election and the PM being dumped ignominiously
from his seat was a terrible blow, now they see that their entire party
is imploding from the huge core-emptiness of their vacuous politics.
>>> Don't the Libs care about working families and rising fuel costs? Why
>>> did they introduce a 10% TAX *ontop* of the fuel excise tax in 2000?
>>> These are questions that need to be answered!
Those are the questions I asked in 2003!
Hark back to the days when the GST was imposed, and liars such as ralph
were claiming
'there is no GST on food' B^p
Then they used to deny it was a regressive tax, and we had to send them
back to economics 101 and explain that it certainly was a regressive
flat tax, which took no account of a persons CAPACITY TO PAY..
my pensioner aunt past the same rate of GST and thus the same amount,
on each item she buys as does Jamie Packer. Thus food and electricity
and even toilet paper tax a far larger percent of her disposable income
than purchases of that same bundle of goods by the tory elites!
And the GST AUTOMATICALLY increases EVERY TIME PRICES DO!! 8^o
Can you imagine the damage this will do given the legacy of high
and rising inflation the Liberals have left us?
Can you imagine what a huge additional cost will fall,
ON THE POOR HARDER THAN ANYONE, from a system in which
rising crude prices automatically generate RISING GST!
On everything!
I have been explaining this patiently for years now.. and finally
people can see what happens when prices start to rise FASTER than
peoples incomes!
The greatest scandal was that when the Lieberals introduced the GST
they gave 50% of the income tax cuts in 'compensation' to the top
20% of income earners!!! 8^o 8^o 8^o
The other 80% of Australians had to share the remaining half among
themselves, and of course it was their meagre fistful of dollars
that was quickly swallowed up by the inflation which grew under
tory economic mismanagement till now it threatens our way of life.
When we come to consider, as Nelson irresponsibly failed to do,
WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM, we should look once more to
PROGRESSIVE TAXATION.. the more you earn the more tax you pay.
It's the only Fair go for all.
If they want unregulated, dog eat dog, every man for themself capitalism
let them go live in Russia.

# Petrol at $1-25 a litre the price of Howard's Oil War?

# Subject: Petrol at $1-25 a litre the price of Howard's Oil War?
#
# "Oil prices hit new high" - ABC Online 20/2/2003
#
# "World oil prices have hit a two-and-a-half year high.
#
# "Fears of a war with Iraq have sent the price of crude
# oil to more than $US37.00 a barrel, which in turn is
# sending prices at the bowser well over $1 a litre."
That was just the rise caused by the FEAR of war, the actual war
itself REDUCED the output from Iraq!!!!
Lower supply, rising demand = price increases.
Oil was already experiencing long term price rises due to
it's growing scarcity.. Howard and Bush's war just made it WORSE!.
During Howard and Costello's government prices at the
pump TRIPLED!!! And all they did in response was ADD
the GST on TOP OF EXCISE.. A TAX ON A TAX!!
Are you all enjoying paying for their war at the pump?
