"We" didn't have to because the Brits & the Soviets were the ones that got
bombed by the Luftwaffe. On top of that, the Luftwaffe was hampered by not
having any real strategic bombers.  (& also by not taking advantage of
jets more effectively when they produced them, & a number of other similar
what-have-yous). & arguably it was the Soviets who won WW2 by breaking the
back of the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front. That was what made D-Day
possible. At any rate, if any of this is even remotely analogous to this
nasty business in the Iraq, "We" are the Nazis this time.
