For years, Bank Of America has treated me like, well, like banks tend to
treat black people. You know what I mean, so I won't waste time getting
into
specifics.
Several months ago, I began slowly migrating my checking account funds
from
Bank Of America to Washington Mutual ... only to find that my local WAMU
branch manager had a lower opinion of black men than even Bank Of America.
His loss, not mine.
Fortunately, there is an atractive alternative which I encourage other
African-Americans to look into. I plan to migrate some of my funds over to
one of their savings accounts in the next few days. . I am talking about
One
United Bank, which is a black-owned Internet bank with branches in Miami,
Masschusetts, and California. The bank CEO is Kevin Cohee. Both this young
brother and his wife are very much part of the same team in this venture.
Take the time to research this black power couple. They both built
fascinating, and highly lucrative, careers before using one million
dollars
of their own money to create One United Bank.
The list of majority shareholders include such famous names as Majic
Johnson
and Janet Jackson. Do yourself a favor and check them out. We need to
support our own businesses.
