An Oakley woman accused of leaving her child on Interstate 71 Wednesday
evening was released on her own recognizance Thursday, but ordered to stay
away from the boy and her other six children.
Tiffany Valentine, 27, was charged with child endangerment after her
arrest Wednesday. Her lawyer, Saul Fetner, told Judge Heather Russell that
Valentine was taking one of her children to Cincinnati Children's Hospital
Medical Center when the 10-year-old began acting up. She stopped the car,
and he jumped out along the interstate, Fetner said.
The lawyer said his client used a cell phone to call her mother, then the
police. Then she drove off, leaving the boy behind, resuming her trip to
the hospital.
Someone saw the 10-year-old near Ridge Avenue and called police.
Valentine, a teacher's aide at Mount Healthy High School, was arrested
later Wednesday on Erie Avenue, police said.
The judge ordered Valentine have no contact with her children until the
case is resolved. The children are being cared for by a relative. Her
trial is June 14.
