Iranian Helicopter Manufacturing Company(Penha) affiliated to the
Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics conducted test flight
on domestically made cargo helicopter, the Defense Ministry said.
According to the Public Relations Office of the Defense Ministry,
the test flight was conducted successfully.
The ministry said that streamlining the manufacture of cargo helicopters,
will save the country millions of dollars annually.
The cargo helicopter is designed to airlift personnel and equipment for
logistic purposes and relief operations, it said.
The Defense Ministry said that it has manufactured four types of
helicopters
for military and logistic purposes since 1997 including Shabaviz
helicopter
and models 2061 and 2091 helicopters whose production lines have gone
on stream.
Defense Minister Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, commanders of the Army
of the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)
were present to witness the test flight of the cargo helicopter.
Shamkhani said in a brief statement at the ceremony the Air Industry
Organization
of the Defense Ministry has managed to set up the production lines for
manufacturing
four types of helicopters.
