Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei here Thursday called armed forces "the stronghold
of nation's peace and security".
"The strong bastion should get more powerful and reliable day
by day through innovation," Ayatollah Khamenei said in an
address to a group of armed forces here on Thursday.
The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution said heroic defense
and resistance of the Iranian nation and armed forces in the
eight-year (1980-88) Sacred Defense proved strength of the
country on the global level.
"Even when the country was the target of military invasion by
(former Iraqi dictator) Saddam and his allies, the Islamic
establishment did not even think of invading and occupying
other countries. So, growing strength of the armed forces is
not for war mongering and attacking others.
The aggressive policies of the world domineering powers issue
the warning to other nations to promote their internal structure
and have necessary preparedness," said the Supreme Leader.
He said tough words and threats of the officials and mouth
pieces of the arrogance are an instance of psychological war.
"All know that enemies of the Iranian nation would not dare
attacking the great nation (of Iran) because so doing they
would enter a field exit from which would be impossible.
The armed forces (of Iran) however should get more prepared
and stronger," said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Ayatollah touched on occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan
by American aggressors and said, "The occupiers entered
Iraq under the pretext of guaranteeing security and freedom
but Iraqi people have over the past five years been witnessing
the most insecure juncture of their life because impiety, occupation
and fanning insecurity are distinctive features of the superpowers.
The strong anti-US stances of Iran's Islamic system and nation
also stem from their identification of the domineering powers' nature."
He said the US President George W. Bush's presidency has been
the most insecure segment of the contemporary history.
"Bush will leave in the next few months and pass the problems,
that he has caused, to his successor. A dark record has been
left in history after him and his black file will remain for ever
open due to growing insecurity, terrorism, occupation and
crimes worldwide."
The Supreme Leader said the Iranian nation's love for Islam
and independence and their disavowal of hegemony and
confidence in the youth are all results of the wise guidelines
and ideology of the late Imam Khomeini.
He said the great Iranian nation and millions of brave rural,
urban and ethnic youth are the strong backing of the armed
forces and the said forces in turn should get more vigilant
and prepared day by day through relying on the endless
power of the great Iranian nation.
