Zomi says:
1. The SPDC knew 48 hours in advance of the oncoming of the cyclone, but
they did nothing.
2. The cyclone eventually came, and they still did nothing, except for
some
propaganda shows.
3. In a parliamentary democracy, the government (which fails to persform
its
duties) would be submitting resignation.

As the statistics soar in the wake of Myanmar's cyclone disaster - 10,000
people are said to have died in the town of Bogalay alone - the military
junta says it is "doing its best" to help survivors. But the generals
admit
they do need outside help.
Could they have acted earlier? Weather forecasters in neighbouring India
claim they gave 48 hours notice that the cyclone was on its way.

International aid efforts are getting underway.
Richard Horsey of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs
said:
"Right now, food is not the emergency priority. Right now, water is much
more important and shelter, but we will have to assess in the coming days
and weeks what has been the impact on the food situation and make sure
that
the food resources are sufficient."
The needs are immense. The UN estimates that several hundred thousand
people
are without shelter and safe drinking water and the fear is that epidemics
could break out.
In areas worst hit by the storm, a constitutional referendum scheduled for
Saturday will now be delayed until later this month. But Myanmar's regime
will go ahead with the poll elsewhere, in a move the opposition party of
pro-democracy campaigner Aung San Suu Kyi has denounced as "totally
unacceptable."
