I've been thinking of the pros and cons of the recent discussion about
linking compensation to Sorry Day, and wondering how recent the
crime/theft has to be to be eligible for compensation?
A year? Ten years? Voyager Disaster? Agent Orange in Vietnam? Back to
the Holocaust to claim justice/your grandparents' possessions?
Paleolithic times?
And what about this (from the ABC website today):

A mushroom cloud rises above Mururoa Atoll
Test zone: Veterans are suing the British Government over exposure to

(AM)
Veterans of British nuclear tests in the South Pacific, including 100
Australians, have launched a class action against the British Government.
Thousands of Commonwealth servicemen witnessed Britain's nuclear tests
in the South Pacific five decades ago.
While some of the men showed signs of radiation sickness at the time,
many have only become ill with diseases like cancer in the last 20 to 30
years.
They have now joined one of the largest compensation claims in British
history.
100 Australian veterans are also involved in the class action.
The British Government denies that radiation from nuclear tests has
resulted in life-long illnesses.
The veterans' lawyers say some of those involved in the claim have only
a few months to live.
The British courts will decide next year whether the case will proceed.
